MFY helps low-income New Yorkers preserve affordable apartments, avoid eviction, and improve housing conditions. Six of MFY’s 11 projects advise, counsel and represent tenants in all aspects of landlord-tenant law, serving over 4,000 households a year.
Projects for Manhattan Tenants:
Neighborhood Preservation Project: Manhattan tenants residing north of Houston Street on the east side; and on the west side between Houston St. and West 110th St.
Lower Manhattan Justice Project: Manhattan tenants living south of Houston Street.
Manhattan Seniors Project: Manhattan residents over the age of 60.
Citywide Projects:
SRO Law Project: Residents of single-room occupancy dwellings.
Mental Health Law Project: People receiving mental health clinical services and patients in psychiatric wards of hospitals affiliated with the NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation.
Brooklyn Projects:
Three-Quarter House Project: residents of three-quarter houses in Brooklyn.
