MFY hosts staff attorney fellows sponsored by the Skadden Fellowship, and other programs. Fellows work closely with our experienced staff attorneys and are directly supervised by each project’s supervising attorney. Fellows carry their own caseload and gain valuable experience in providing a wide range of services, from brief advice and counsel to representation at administrative hearings, judicial proceedings, and with appeals.
MFY is currently accepting proposals in the following areas: student loan debt problems; barriers to re-entry for people with criminal backgrounds, including housing, employment or consumer debt; barriers that formerly institutionalized people who have disabilities face to remaining in the community, including housing, benefits and support services; serving children with disabilities in special education and other legal matters in a medical-legal partnership; and protecting the civil rights of families in the child welfare system. MFY will also consider proposals in other areas that complement or expand upon our core areas.
Applications should include a cover letter, short proposal and resume, addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate FELLOWSHIP 2015 in the subject line. Applications are due July 11, 2014. A decision will be made on or about August 1.
