MFY is a non-profit, independent legal services provider that receives no support from the federal Legal Services Corporation. We are supported by grants from state and local government agencies, private philanthropies and corporations, and contributions from hundred of individuals. Because we are independent of federal restrictions, we are able to bring class action suits that benefit large groups of people, such as the recent suit that required the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to issue half-fare MetroCards to mentally disabled New Yorkers, a ruling that improves the lives of some 40,000 New Yorkers.If you believe that all New Yorkers—regardless of income—deserve equal access to justice, then please make a generous, tax-deductible contribution to MFY.
